Taking a Bite out of Mouth Issues

We all know someone who is having issues with their teeth ,I am sure we all know that person who always seems to have bad breath , Or are you one of those whom every time they brush their teeth their gums bleed or that they have sore gums and sensitive teeth …This is medically called Gingivitis

The best way to deal with these issues is deal with it at the early stages before it becomes a serious dental issue.

The root of gum disease is dental Hygiene , If you don’t take care of this properly then it leads to issues later . Let me put it this way , If your Mouth was a car and you put the wrong fuel in it all the time , Put cheap nasty oil in it and used the cheapest parts you can it would break down wouldn’t it . Well your mouth is no different.

All dental problems can be treated , Here are a few easy things you can do to help with your teeth

First thing

Brush

Brush your teeth first thing in the morning and before bed to help restrict bacterial build up , If your gums bleed try a softer tooth brush , I use a baby one or one for around 6 months  as they are ultra soft. Gentle brushing is best but yes there will still be some blood till we get on top of the problem then you can also try some of these things.

 Oil Pulling

This is an ancient indian medicine , The Anti – inflammatory properties help reduce the toxins being present in the gums and bad breath

This method comes from ancient times from Indian medicine. It has anti-inflammatory properties as it helps reduces the toxins from gums and removes the bad breath.

Instructions:

  • Take one tablespoon of sesame oil or coconut oil , Even a couple of Coconut Oil capsules broken open.
  • Swish it through your teeth for 15 minutes
  • Rinse thoroughly using water
  • Do this every day for one month for best results.

Tea Bags

Yes you read right Tea bags, I like to use particularly of those of Ojibwa tea, have tannic acid present in them, which is very effective anti-oxidant and can help reduce the pain and gum infections. The Ojibwa also have extra herbs that help with Inflamation

Instructions:

  • Put a tea bag in hot water for 10 minutes like when you use it to make tea.
  • Take it out of the water and press the tea bag itself on the affected area for 5 minutes. You can do this after you have drunken the tea.
  • Use regularly to heal the gum infection.

Chamomile Tea

This tea has antiseptic properties. Using this prevents the germ buildups in gums and helps to reduce any inflammation related to gum disease.

Instructions:

  • Make up a black tea using Chamomile , I use Alvita Chamomile tea bags as I find it easier , Let it cool after brewing it.
  • Use this solution as mouthwash three times a day

 Aloe Vera Gel

If the gum disease is at a stage where you have pain in gums, this method is best suited for you as Aloe Vera has healing properties and is used to reduce pain. There are several ways to use it and following is one of them:

Instructions:

  • Take a small quantity of gel and massage on your gums.
  • Or, leave it in gums for half an hour then rinse.
  • Or, swish some of the gel around in the mouth and spit it.
  • Or, drink one tablespoon twice a day. Our Aloe Vera Gel Inner Filler is good for this

Note: do not drink more than three tablespoons per day.

Tea Tree Oil

By a research published in 2008 in Australian Dental Journal, gum bleeding and inflammation can be significantly reduced by using tea tree oil because of its antibiotic properties. This method can provide quick relief from irritated gums.

Instructions:

  • Put a drop of oil on toothpaste and brush
  • Use this method twice a day for several weeks

Note: Do no swallow the oil.

Or you can use our Tooth Paste  Xyli White – Neem and Teatree , The Xylitol in the toothpaste helps with dental disease and works well with the tea tree

Myrrh

With its astringent, antiseptic and antibacterial properties, Myrrh is widely recommended for oral hygiene. It is most effective against sore gums.

A great way to get this our lovely toothpaste Propolis and Mrryh. Its easier them putting some of the Myrrh oil on the toothbrush with your tooth paste and trying to remember not to swallow .

Vitamin C

Us humans cant store Vitamin C , It’s a Vitamin that should be in our diet daily , This is one thing we have in common with the humble guinea pig.

You can get your daily vitamin c intake by eating fruit and juice like cranberry juice , or you can take it as a supplement like Ascorbic Acid .

You are most likely wondering what’s the Benefit of this vitamin , It helps your immune system function properly .

The fruits such as grapefruit , Oranges , Blueberries , Strawberries , Veges like Broccoli and red Peppers help prevent bacteria from getting stuck in your gums and teeth.

Don’t worry , As stated your body doesn’t store the vitamin C so what it cant use it flushes out of the system , all you need to do is make sure you are having a good dose of vitamin C daily.

Now I know what your thinking , Aren’t those just for when you are having antibiotics ? We I am here to tell you Nope they aren’t , You can take them to help with your oral care

One we have here is Thera Breath Oral Care Probiotic , It helps you fight bad breath , Gum Problems ,Tartar, Plaque and Cavities and Throat discomfort. Its great to add to your current routine to get on top of any of your mouth problems.

Mouth Wash

 

Yes this is good , The ones I like to use is normally a mint and alcohol free Varity  The one I currently use is PerioBrite The reason one of our staff members uses Mint free is because they have Geographical Tongue , The mint one is nice , When they use it they do dilute it half with water.

A good mouth wash for your mouth is like giving your car a nice car wash , Gets rid of all the gunk and refreshes the mouth.

Another good thing you can do to clean out your mouth is an oral cleanser , A good one is Perio Cleanse , You use this once a day as instructed on the pack and it will help your mouth and gums.

Toothpaste

Now not all tooth paste are made the same , We have Tooth paste by PerioBright , Auromere, and Himalaya Herbal Healthcare . But we also have ones from Xyli White , This has Xylitol in it that has been proven to be beneficial to your mouth and gums , One of them even has baking soda added to it to help your teeth.

Another good one that we have is Jason Power Smile , The good thing about this one is that is an Anti Plaque and whitening toothpaste .Its great to use.

happy teethNow hopefully we will have you on the way to a nice Healthy Smile , Remember keep up with regular dental checks , If you have sore teeth you can either use clove oil ( mix with a little bit of almond oil to stop it burning your gums ) , Or if they are really aching use some Perio Bright Rub , Great for soothing your painful gums and is all natural.

If you have Geographical Tongue like one of our staff  you will have come to the realization that some mint based mouth products do tend to lead to painful moments, they love the Xylit White toothpaste that aren’t Mint based like the Tea tree and Neem  and the Cinnamon. It does make a difference.
